An outline of a planning application from the Emerson Group for the building of a residential property development has been submitted. It will be located on the south side of Handforth’s Coppice Way and will no doubt lead to an increase in bathroom extensions in Cheshire, along with other home renovations.
Jones Homes plans to build somewhere within the region of 175 properties, which will include public open space, on an area located on the west side of the A34, presently a farmland field.
Retail units surround the site to the north, with the A34 on the east side.
The mix of housing has not been specified to date but the plan is to make available a number of two-bed, three-bed, four-bed and five-bed homes, with the main focus being on two-floor family homes with three or four beds.
Just under a third of the homes will be made to be especially affordable, namely two-bed and three-bed homes, dispersed in tiny clusters throughout the site.
Included in the planning application was the following explanation:
“The intention is for the proposed housing development to act as a sustainable extension to the village of Handforth. The new residents will use the existing facilities in Handforth village. This will enable these shops and services to be better supported by the increased catchment, rather than being challenged by any new facilities outside the existing centre.”
Vehicles would be able to access the development from an arm added on to the current roundabout, serving the Handorth Dean Retail Park, as well as Coppice Way.
